“Right now I’m on sabbatical in Mexico City”. Now that sounds amazing and radical! Stefan actually spends every seventh year away from his office, away from duties and commitments.
Stefan joins Creativity World Forum from an exploration in happiness as a designer. He will unveil his tactics to make sure his work remains a calling without deteriorating into a job, as well as the chances to design pieces that induce happiness in the audience - and show the fruits of his efforts from his outstandingly creative agency Sagmeister & Walsh.
"Right now I’m on sabbatical in Mexico City"
“I am an Austrian designer who lives and works in New York. Right now I’m on sabbatical in Mexico City” Stefan Sagmeister says about himself on his very active instagram profile. With that he says so much in so few words and you might already have an idea of why we are excited that he is coming to Creativity World Forum 2017 to give his answers to our “people” challenge: “How to cultivate and nurture your creative spirit”
So lets unpack his few words. “I am an Austrian designer who lives and works in New York”. Stefan Sagmeister combines his two passions design and music in the graphic agency Sagmeister & Walsh. Their impressive list of works spans from album covers to full-blown visual identities for the Rolling Stones, Lou Reed and The Guggenheim Museum and many others. Looking through their work, they are one of these agencies who just always gets it right.
That brings us onto the second sentence in the Sagmeister profile “Right now I’m on sabbatical in Mexico City”. Now that sounds amazing and radical. And Stefan does actually spend every seventh year away from his office, away from duties and commitments. He insists this makes not only personal and professional sense, but also shows up positively on the bottom line. And we must believe him, because this year in Mexico City is his third sabbatical in his seven-year rota.
So if you have you ever thought: “There must be something else I can do with my skills and experience”, then look forward to a real treat from Stefan at Creativity World Forum – when he will be fresh back from his mexican sabbatical!
