Henrik Vibskov is one of Danish fashion's most infamous enfant terribles - and one of the most talented and established, too. “The Transparent Tongue“, “The Spaghetti Handjob“ and “The Shrink Wrap Spectacular“ are just a few of the titles he's used for his shows. He's the only Scandinavian member of the Chambre Syndicale de la Mode Masculine making him the only Scandinavian designer on the official show schedule for Paris Men's Fashion Week.
What do Danes do differently?
Henrik is originally from a small town not too far from Aarhus but learnt the tricks of the trade by studying at the elite fashion school, Central Saint Martins, in London. Upon graduating in 2001, he started his own menswear label and has since then added a women’s collection.
Henrik is known for his un-Scandinavian designs; playful, colourful and drawing on inspiration from all over the world. He’s famous for his use of pig-imagery as well as for his unconventional fashion shows.
As if designing new collections for the Henrik Vibskov brand wasn’t enough, Henrik has also designed costumes for opera companies around the world and showcased his artistic vision at various exhibitions from Helsinki to New York.
Henrik Vibskov is currently Professor at DSKD and has frequently given lectures and been a jury member at institutions such as Central Saint Martins in London, the IED in Madrid and the Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Art amongst others.
Henrik has published four books, including a 2012 monograph of his work to date (published by Gestalten). To add to all of this, Henrik is a professional musician in his own right as well as having toured with megastar, Trentemøller.
